Check the battery and the terminal cable connections. If they look really corroded, you need to clean the battery posts and cable connectors or replace the cables and try to start the engine. Also check the starter. The solenoid attached to the top of the starter can fail, as well as the components inside.
I am dealing with a 7L 3.0 TDI Touareg (BKS). The engine has been running flawlessly until one day it did not start at all. The following items have been replaced so far: - Starter - G28 Crankshaft-Sensor - G40 Camshaft sensor But no success. I have also checked all 4 fuseboxes twice to make sure that it is not a fuse issue.

Put a mechanical oil pressure gauge onto the switch port, and see what you actual oil pressure is at idle, and at 4000 rpm. Do this with a fully warmed-up engine, and compare your readings
Over the last 2yrs I've been having a terrible time getting my 2007 Q7 TDI to start. Symptoms: - Long cranking (~8-10 seconds) on cold start. - Often have to try 2-3 times to start. - Large plume of white smoke out of the exhaust, but then normal idle without smoke. - Starts fine with a hot/warm start. Conditions: - Ambient Temperature irrelevant. Remove Cables - How to disconnect the cables the right way. 5. Clean Cables - Clean with baking soda, water and a wire brush. 6. New Battery - Install new battery and prevent corrosion. 7. Secure Battery - Replace the bracket to secure the new battery. 8. Replace Cover - Ensure the cover is put back properly.
