You’ve been reading the forum too much. 9000+ miles on my 2017 1090r. No cold start issue, no fuel pump problems, wobbling occurs due to the tkc80 and similar tires deforming over 100mph (not 60mph). This is a limitation of the tires and not the bike. Airbox and fuel level float are the issues I have faced.
A somewhat closer comparison might be the more dirt focused KTM 1290R. I think your biggest decision is will likely be DCT or no DCT. After you test the Africa Twin DCT you will have your answers. #5. Iowa_ADV , May 12, 2018.
The 890's disc is larger (more leverage) and radial. It has far more braking power than our adequate 950/990 fronts, and just in case I was unclear, I feel the 990's is much better offroad and that the 890's braking power is far too strong for dirt. #5. GreatWhiteHunter , May 25, 2021. #6.
