That engine is the same 1,301cc LC8 V-twin that’s used across KTM’s high-end models, but it’s improved for the new generation with thinner cases to cut 3.5 pounds from its mass, along with
The Legend Lives On: Starting with an 1190 RC8 frame and a 2018 KTM 1290 Super Duke R engine, Daan set out to mate KTM’s latest engineering and electronics suite to the RC8’s incredibly Also I like the non-semi active suspension better since it's having better upgrade options. One can safely go from the 21/18" on the SAR to a 19/17" without upsetting geometry/trail. Just like going from 19" ti 17" on the SAS. But going from 21" to 17" on the SAR will need offset yokes or fork bottom end.

So, I am dying to purchase a new KTM 1290 Super Adventure, absolutely love it. Had a bad time with some long test rides on an 1190 ADV-R where a few spokes came loose in the middle of nowhere (letting all the air out) and tightening them didn't keep the air in.

V-Twins I have owned. Suzuki DL-1000, Honda RC51, KTM 990, SMR, and KTM 1290 Superduke R. I was a little disappointed with the KTM 990 engine. It was much newer than my RC51 but the RC51 was a stronger motor. Not so with the 1290. A stock 1290 is a monster and with a Power Commander, a full exhaust, and a custom dyno tune even crazier. What a beast, I thought to myself as I put my first few miles on the 2022 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. In retrospect, that thought kind of made sense given the fact that the mill tucked beneath the 1290’s new tank design is an iteration of the Super Duke’s 1301cc V-Twin – the naked bike dubbed by KTM marketing folks as “the beast.” And beastly it is. Even in larger ADV garb coming in AdLUBT.
