How to change replace the overhead / interior / map light bulb on a Ford Focus. The bulb needed is a 10W watt festoon type bulb.
The maplights then at either side, the courtesy lights behind the sunvisors (if installed), the glovebox light, the front footwells (again, if installed) and the boot light all require a T10 aka W5W wedge type bulb.
Without knowing the make and model of your vehicle, it hard to definitively give insight on the exact component that has failed. In general, when the door is opened, the switch turns on the interior lights. If the lights are not coming on, then its possible the switch has failed. It also possible there is a short between the fuse and the door
